With a 75 year high snow pack for Ontario melting away, everyone in the Valley was excited for the pay off... Big Water. Little did we know, that we would be reaping the benefits for the next 4 months.

Once the river dropped down low enough for Big Bus (there were a few weeks where Big Bus was flushed out, but it remained too low for Gladiator Wave) it was on. After spending a couple epic days on Big Bus, Mini Bus settled into a sweet level. Where it seemed to stay for ages, or at least long enough for the knot in between my shoulders to grow to massive proportions and make me slightly thankful for a bit of a rest from the constant Bussy sessions. And a bit of a rest is all we would get as Bussy would come in and out for the rest of the summer. I paddled Bussy for 4 consecutive months.

Once again this combination of; perfect wave conditions, warm water, hot & sunny weather, and good friends in the eddy line ups, was allowing the envelope to be pushed that much further. Combos seemed to be severed up on every other ride, with some tasty new styles, such as, flash back to blunt-pan’am-airscrew, Airscrew to clean blunt, and the yet to be perfected double airscrew. Yep thats 2 complete rotations before landing!

The Line ups at times were a bit too much to handle, but thanks to Bussy’s very physical nature most people would limit there sessions. And with some knowledge of the ebb and flow of the packs of kayakers you could time your sessions with only a small handful of peeps.

Along with Bussy another high water favorite is High Tension Wave. And as with Bussy this seemed to be in for the majority of the summer. Myself and Dave took full advantage of this and spent many days out on the wave, as well as some sleepless nights trying to camp on the sand beach beside the wave.
