Well, I had a chance to try out the latest Bliss-Stick Playboat the “Smoothie” just before flew out of NZ and I really dig it. I was surprised as I was expecting it to be too big for me since I normally paddle a RAD175 but I was actually really comfortable. I think this was due to the slightly narrower design allowing me to still have good control from my hips. It obviously has more volume than I’m used to but this made it handle better running the river. It was fast in a straight line, flew off any drop I boofed, handled / manoeuvered easily and the extra rocker prevented the water from grabbing my edges. It worked well in a play hole, looped easily and I could cartwheel although was a little more difficult as was more volume in the front than I’m used to. I think this is a great boat for a large range of paddlers as it accommodates a surprisingly broad weight range. I’m real excited to spend more time in this boat and see how it performs on a wave as with the speed, bliss-stick style edges and additional rocker I’m sure it will be awesome. There are a lot of people here at the Ottawa keen to try out this boat so roll on July when it hits Canada!!!
